Gentoo Desktop Research Project

1.  Project Description

The desktop research project is not intended to maintain or manage existing ebuilds/features, but to research how existing features can be improved, or corrected, to work better with other components, to enhance the desktop experience.

2.  Project Goals

Desktop Gentoo's purpose is to improve Gentoo desktop experience, by researching how existing features can be improved or corrected, by trying to make desktop components work better together, and by eventually developing new components. This project is intended to be a team of gentoo developers, spending their time in auditing the Gentoo desktop experience in a general manner, and to find places where it can be improved. Each time an improvement is discovered, a corresponding task is designed and planned.

Core team recruitment - Recruitment of core members (finished)

We need a small team of motivated people that wants to join us, before writing down precises goals, methods and documentations. People of this team don't need a particular development skill, but should have an opinion about desktop research, the way it should be done and so on.

Gentoo config tools research - Research on the config tools topic

This project is an attempt to design tools that will make Gentoo configuration more user friendly, although these tools don't necceserily have GUI frontends. This task is writing a description of what we want
