Status Reports
Preliminaries
This is the status of the Gentoo Documentation Project. It will be posted
regularly, but not with a static frequency. All questions can be posted to
gentoo-doc@gentoo.org or to
me personally.
The Gentoo Documentation Project, from now on abbreviated to GDP, has its own
project page (just like almost all other Gentoo projects). You can find it at
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/gdp.
Content
This status mail will briefly discuss the following tasks, objectives and/or
projects related to the GDP:

New / Updated Documentation
Various documents have been updated since the previous status update:
-
The Gentoo Handbook has been updated to
remove all occurrences of emu10k1, improve the description on the
usage of lspci, update on the devfsd versus udev
debacle, etc.
-
A fourth part has been added to the Gentoo
Handbook as well: Gentoo Network
Configuration covers Gentoo's current baselayout on the subject
of network configuration, including wireless networks.
-
The NVidia Guide has received a
major update, as well as our Gentoo FAQ.
-
Shyam Mani, a new Gentoo
Documentation Developer, has rewritten the ALSA Guide since it was far from up to
date
-
The Gentoo Security Guide has now been
transformed in a handbook format
-
The Printing HOWTO has been
rewritten to make the text easier to read; better separation of duties,
etc.
Thanks to Benedikt Boehm we now have a Gentoo vserver Howto.
Shyam also converted a few IBM DeveloperWorks articles to GuideXML and
published them online for your reading
pleasure.
Of course, we shouldn't forget all the updates to the other guides, such as
spelling and grammar fixes and bugfixes that were reported to Bugzilla.
An overview of all fixed bugreports since the last status update can be found on Gentoo's bugtracking system.
