1.  Project Description

Gentoo/OpenBSD (or Gentoo/OBSD, or G/OBSD) is an effort to create a complete OpenBSD-based Gentoo system, sharing the complete administration facilities of Gentoo with the reliability of the OpenBSD kernel and userland.

This project is still in its infancy. If you are interested in working on it, please send an email to the Gentoo/*BSD team.

2.  Project tasks

The tasks of the obsd project are:

Gentoo Prefix on OpenBSD - Providing working Gentoo Prefix bootstrapping guide for OpenBSD host

First of all, we must make Gentoo Prefix work on OpenBSD, to see what problems are present and try to solve them before making stages

Starting date: 2011-04-04

Gentoo/OpenBSD stages - Providing stages for installation

To be a complete Gentoo system, Gentoo/OpenBSD must be installed with stages which carry the minimum software needed to run the system.

Starting date: 2005-11-29
Milestone # ETA Description
1 Finished First experimental stage3 for basic installation

Gentoo/OpenBSD LiveCD - Providing a LiveCD for installation

A LiveCD is needed to untar stage3 so it has to provide some basic tools.

Starting date: 2005-12-12

1 Finished First experimental LiveCD
Depends on This task depends on the Gentoo/OpenBSD stages task
