Those interested in running Gentoo/MIPS SGI system can get started by reading the Handbook. You may also find the FAQ page a useful read. Help can be obtained by subscribing to the gentoo-mips mailing list. More information about subscribing to a Gentoo mailing list can be found on the Mailing Lists page.

Those with access to an IRC Client can join #gentoo-mips on irc.freenode.net for general questions, help, or just to talk with others using Gentoo/MIPS.

5.  Targetted MIPS Hardware

We target some specific MIPS hardware with stage4 tarballs that provide more than a plain stage3 because these systems are popular, but building a useful environment is difficult for various reasons. One necessarily trades choice for convenience.

Currently we target the following:

System CPU Name Manufacturer Installation
Yeeloong Netbook Loongsoon 2f Lemote Netboot/USB boot. Tarball image.
